"Dialogues between art and design "is the theme of the second edition of MILAN DESIGN WEEKEND, an event organized by RCS Group and Mondadori Group. A great festival, dedicated to Milan, the capital of design, which returns this year 6 to 9 October with four days devoted to shopping but also to integrated pathways of design, art, architecture and music. MILAN DESIGN WEEK is sponsored by the Department of Culture, Expo, Fashion, Design of the City of Milan and the Order of Architects the Province of Milan. The event is also sponsored by some of the most important institutions of art and culture
such as the Milan Triennale Design Museum, the Museum of the twentieth century and the Civic Archaeological Museum - for the first time - along with the circuit of the House Museums in Milan.
The Conservatory of Milan also joins the initiative for the first time.
On Saturday 8th opening till 10 pm.

Boffi Solferino and Subzero invite you to the event "Taste beauty". Ua celebration of culture and food with a theatre pièce and wine tasting with Paolo Massobrio. The evening will also include a special pasta extruded with gold and the extraction of the winner of a Subzero product. The entire proceeds of ticket sales will be donated to charity.

Four days dedicated to furnitre shopping, design, arts and architecture paths around “The Art of Living”, from 14th to 17th October, celebrating Milan as the city of design.
MILANO DESIGN WEEKEND is patronised by the City of Milan, ADI, the order of architects of the Province of Milan.

For the Macef 2010, Boffi Solferino is pleased to host the presentation of the latest collections of Sabattini silverware.

For the first edition of Milano design-in-the-city, in October 2009, Boffi Solferino hosts an installation by Patrick Nadeau: Rainforest. The installation transforms Boffi Solferino into a tropical landscape, where nature becomes a metaphor for Boffi’s design concept.
Water, the element at the heart of the ritual of bathing, is omnipresent. An important aspect of the design is the arrangement of DuPont™ Corian® hoops, over which thousands of epiphyte plants are laid to create a ‘vegetal’ rain fall.
Lighting is an integral part of the installation, as zenithal lights shines through the organic sky and creates a play of light and shade which evokes the atmosphere of a tropical forest.

On the occasion of Milan Furniture Fair 2009 Boffi invites the artist Miguel Chevalier to present two interactive virtual installations, “Fractal Flowers” and “Pixels Liquides”, in the Boffi Solferino showroom.
“Fractal Flowers” introduces a new generation of flowers characterised by sculptural forms with an extremely geometrical expression which develop towards the frontiers of the animal and mineral world.
With the ”Pixels Liquides” installation, Chevalier proposes a different world, one of fluidity.
”Pixel Liquids” is projected onto a wall and inside a bathtub and produces a sort of skin of coloured pixels that evolve autonomously.
Interacting with the installation, the visitor creates a stripe of colour: this stripe mixes and melts within the basic pattern of the “painting”, until it disappears and the next visitor comes to create a new and unique stripe.

In April 2009 Boffi Solferino turns into a small stage for a show of molecular cooking.
On the occasion of this great event – for the first time in Italy - , the restaurant of Chiuduno “Anteprima”, 1 star in Michelin guide, presents in collaboration with Gaggenau the Molecular cooking: an exploration of the physical and chemical features of food, which aims at destructure it and re-create it with new consistency.
Sensorial path for taste, sight, touch and smell between cold and hot, liquid and solid.
The main protagonists are the chef Daniel Facen and his team.

In March 2009 Domori, a famous brand of gourmet chocolate, and Zacapa, renowned rum producer, organize a press event: chocolate and rum, the perfect seductive combination.
The top-end chocolate and the aged rum are presented by Franco Gasparri, who helps the audience to explore aromas and food coupling.

December 2008, Domori tasting: Gianluca Franzoni, president and founder of the famous gourmet chocolate company, Domori, and author of the first chocolate tasting code following such excellence, guides participants through the discovery of secrets and tastes of delicate cacao using two new products: Single Origins and the original blend Domori IlBlend. The latter product is the result of a mixture of different cru and the incomparable Criollo cacao.
Exclusively for this event, the participants taste the new Gianduja Fondente bar, a classic product re-invented through Domori’s purity of ingredients: the delicate Arriba cacao meets the best Piemonte hazelnut.

2007 saw the second Lancôme Make-up Artists Awards take place, a contest for professional make-up artists offering as a prize a future career with Lancôme (training and staff position). The revealing seduction of Lancôme beauty products mixes with the emotion of the challenge of this event that rewards the creativity of the best make-up artist. On November 7th 2007 in Milan started the real challenge for the artists : to express themselves via colour and style and provide the make-up for a professional fashion collection. The semi-final of the competition is hosted at Boffi Solferino showroom.

Oikos Fragrances presents, at the Boffi Solferino showroom, a menu of unique fragrances to be tasted with nose.
To give the sense of “greedy” Perfumes they imagined to embody the olfactory experiences during the daily life of a " guilt-free glutton", following the thread of a speech full of olfactory stimuli and surprises.
The moments devoted to food and meeting are characterized by a particular scent that underlines as the smell is really a need, that helps us to make sense of social relations.
The chef Davide Oldani, combined with the “greedy” perfumes, offers six menu variations on the theme.

A hand-made, exclusive knife collection resulting from a collaboration between the French chef Michel Bras (3 stars in the Michelin Guide) and the Japanese knife manufacturer Kai is presented for the first time in Italy to a select group at Boffi Solferino in May 2006.

In November 2005 after Rome, New York and Los Angeles, kitchenenology is presented at Boffi Solferino.
Four dynamic women, presenters of prestige and enormous success: Emanuela Stucchi from BADIA A COLTIBUONO, Elda Felluga from LIVIO FELLUGA, Francesca Planeta from PLANETA and Beatrice Contini from CAPEZZANA lead wine tastings and tell about their personal stories, their companies and their passions.

In September 2005 the Liquid Space: 70 years of Boffi Design (with an essay by Stefano Casciani) and a Boffi monograph, dedicated to their 70 years of existence and activity, is presented in the Showroom.
The book, published by Electa, was added to the publishers design collection and will be available at all Mondadori distributors world wide.
All the designers that have worked with Boffi in 70 years have participated at the presentation!

During the Milan Design Week 2005 the Electronic Shadow group realises the showroom setting.
Naziha Mestaoui (Architect) and Yacine Ait Kaci (director) combine their experience in order to create a new “hybrid” design where architecture, new technologies, design, graphic design, 3D reality and video are combined.
Body and space are used as interfaces, the technologies become transparent and modify our perception.
Basic elements, water and fire, opposite but complementary are the Yen and the Yang of Electronic Shadow proposal through two settings involving physical space and images.
H2O and Focus invite the visitor to discover the two sources of life.

In November 2004 dishes inspired by the Luisa di Gresy’s jewellery shapes and valuable material are presented.
A chef prepares recipes that gives the guests the pleasure of admiring and discovering dazzling jewels with all senses.
Protagonists of the evening are the jewellery that inspired the creativity and skill of the chef.
They are exceptional pieces. Their beauty is truly food for the soul.

In May 2004 La Perla previews the lingerie collection for home. Models have walked down bathroom and kitchen areas showing the seduction and charm of La Perla and Boffi new design items.

In April 2003 Boffi opens the doors to a transformed, 1200 sq.m. combined kitchen and bathroom flagship store, the first of its kind in Italy.
The project, developed by Piero Lissoni in collaboration with the Boffi marketing team, conserves the old Milan loft characteristics while introducing highly contemporary elements like the demarcations of the various spaces on three levels and the impressive central staircase. Special attention is paid to create a suggestive atmosphere using different lighting, aromas and ambient sounds. As has been the tendency since the Cologne Fair 2002 and like last opened flagship stores the entire space is painted in dark grey. The products, consequently, act as sole protagonists on the new Boffi scene.

In April 2003 Migliore + Servetto Architetti Associati sets the showroom installation during the Milan Design Week.
"About Boffi" is a dynamic installation about the Boffi history, built with 200 ml of transparent flexible strips hanged on the ceiling, stacked with as many linear feet of strip electroluminescent light at varying fields, with programmable power fading. The reading of overlapping images is integrated with synchronized animations projected onto three transparent holographic screens, suspended among the strips.
Upstairs the story, through several rooms, is held horizontally for a more detailed reading of the images.
Outside: computer graphics on a large screen set in the courtyard.

In December 2001 took place the inauguration of an exhibition by Franco Fontana entitled ‘Imaginary Landscape’ (photography and digital technology), including 25 unedited photographs, which have been computer-processed and printed on canvas with a plotter and melted wax; the copies are limited to three, individually signed and certified by the photographer.
The ‘Imaginary Landscape’ is not a false image, but rather corresponds to a reality with creative license, in which imagination takes shape and re-designs the image. The computer makes it possible to create one photograph by putting together two or three images.

In November 2000 Camper previews the 2001 spring-summer collection at Boffi Solferino.
In this collection Campers introduces some new concepts full of colour and humour with a strong brand identity. Characteristic of these series is the strong influence of water sports both in form and materials, originating comfortable shoes for the city. New collections include some women models, with great attention to detail, and sandals as a trend for the man. For Camper the lightness of the materials becomes very important, as well as the wide range of colours.

In December 1998 a new space in via Solferino 11, which has been entirely dedicated to bathroom products, is opened.
With Boffi Solferino it's abandoned the idea of a traditional bathroom shop selling individual products and introduced the full-fledged concept-store offering complete bathroom solutions including accessories. The products are presented in large spaces conveying an atmosphere of exclusivity and refinement that succinctly defined the inimitable Boffi style.
The showroom also represents a novel and original display philosophy that aims not only to embody an interesting and complete solution for bathroom interiors but also to be a reference point for other dealers both in Italy and overseas.
